Overview

Auto Scaling (AS) refers to automatically scale up or down the number of ECS instances based on the load of applications to meet resources requirements at the business peak period and save costs at the low-peak period. You can set timing tasks to scale the number of ECS instances according to time cycle. Scaling groups are with a self-inspection mechanism, which makes automatic isolation and exit available in the event of inaccessible to business ports.

Product advantage

Auto expandability &Pay-as-you-go

Auto Scaling refers to automatically scale up or down the number of instances instead of manual intervention in scaling groups according to time cycle. That is, an instance is created automatically in accordance with well-prepared custom images and is included into the scaling group for operations. In addition, you can scale up or down the number of instances based on load of applications to meet resources requirements at the business peak period and save costs at the low-peak period.

Self-inspection mechanism and automatic repair

The scaling group is with a self-inspection mechanism. It inspects the release of instances based on some rules, isolates these instances automatically after discovering abnormal instances, then automatically creates same instances and includes them into the scaling group to facilitate the sustainable operation of the applications in accordance with the planned number of instances.

Deployment combining various methods

Instances in the scaling group support manual and automatic deployment. You can manually add instances deployed to the scaling group, use the self-inspection mechanism to monitor the applications of instances and replace abnormal instances with normal instances created manually.

Application scenarios

Add instances based on tasks

Add instances based on time cycle or reminders; there are 3 instances at first, and 1 instance is automatically created at the fixed time and is included into the scaling group automatically to provide services like other instances.

Self-inspection and automatic repair

Four instances operate in the scaling group, and 1 instance is not available due to some reasons. Once the abnormal instance is discovered, it will be removed from the scaling group automatically, and another instance will be created to be included to the scaling group. Four instances in total should operate normally in the scaling group.
