<p>Cloud Backup Service (CBS) offers the platform-based backup service. Users can backup and restore their key data such as documents, logs, applications or designated files to avoid data losses and corruption.</p>

Terms and Instructions

<p><strong>Backup strategy</strong></p> <p>A backup strategy is a backup plan customized according to your business requirements. Only through the backup strategy can you backup your documents. You may set up or change parameters of your backup strategies to determine which documents of which cloud servers will be backuped, so you may create different backup strategies to use different backup management functions.</p> <p>Each user can have multiple backup strategies.</p> <p>The following items need to be set up when you create a backup strategy:</p> <p><strong>Description:</strong> briefly describe the backup strategy as a reminder</p> <p><strong>The backup area:</strong> choose the backup area of the cloud server This will not be changed after being created.</p> <p><strong>Backup source:</strong> choose your backup cloud server. This will not be changed after being created.</p> <p><strong>Source directory:</strong> choose the file where documents to be backuped come from; root directory cannot be backuped. This will not be changed after being created.</p> <p><strong>Backup cycle</strong>: set up the backup frequency, such as every day, every 3 days, each week, every 10 days and each month. The backup cycle should be shorter than the retention period.</p> <p><strong>Retention period:</strong> set up the retention period for backups, such as 1&nbsp;week, 20 days, 1 month ,&nbsp;3 months, 1 year, 2 years and 3 years. The retention period should be longer than the backup cycle.</p> <p><strong>The execution time:</strong> set up the backup execution time during which the backup operations will be made.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Backup operation</strong></p> <p>Backup operation is the basic step of CBS backup execution. Each time a backup strategy is executed, one more backup operation will be recorded. Successful backup operations can be restored.</p> <p>Backup operation information includes operation number, status, relevant times and size.</p> <p><strong>Start time:</strong> this is the time when the backup operation will be made; to be determined by the execution time set up by the backup strategy.</p> <p><strong>End time:</strong> this is the time when all backups are completed, the length of which will be based on the size of the document to be backuped.</p> <p><strong>Expiration time:</strong> copies of the backups cannot be restored after the expiration time. The time will be decided by the retention time set up by the backup strategy.</p> <p><strong>Document size:</strong> the total size of all documents to be backuped under the source directory designated by the backup strategy.</p> <p><strong>Incremental size</strong>: the size of incremental backups; if there are no new documents under the source directory, the incremental size will be 0. Backups for the first time are the total size.</p> <p>Zip size: the size of the zipped incremental backups each time</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Restoration operation</strong></p> <p>Restoration operation is the basic step of CBS restoration execution. Each time a restoration operation is executed, one more restoration operation will be recorded.</p> <p>Backup operation information includes operation number, status, restoration cloud server and information of the restored document.</p> <p><strong>Restoration area:</strong> the area of the cloud server to which the document is restored.</p> <p><strong>Restoration source:</strong> the cloud server to which the document is restored.</p> <p><strong>Restoration directory:</strong> the directory of the cloud server to which the document is restored.</p> <p><strong>Start time</strong>: the time when the restoration operation is conducted.</p> <p><strong>End time:</strong> this is the time when all restorations are completed, the length of which will be based on the size of the document to be restored.</p> <p><strong>Document size:</strong> the total size of all restored documents, also the size of the documents restored to the cloud server.</p>
