Overview

Container as a Service (CaaS) provides high-performance and scalable container application management services. It supports use of Docker containers for application life cycle management, provides continuous delivery capabilities, and supports microservices architecture. CaaS integrates Ping An Cloud's elastic technology, storage, networking and security capabilities, simplifies deployment of Docker container management cluster and provides robust and reliable cloud container services.

Advantages

User-friendly

CaaS provides well-developed container cluster management, resource scheduling, container orchestration and code building, blocks low level infrastructure differences, and simplifies management and operation of distributed applications. With CaaS, there is no need to operate any cluster management software or design any fault-tolerant cluster architecture, so you do not need to be involved in any related management or expansion efforts.

Through simple procedures on the page, Ping An Cloud CaaS conducts all the cluster management work and enables you to fully concentrate on developing Dockerized applications.

Elastic scaling

You can use CaaS to flexibly arrange container services of a specified size based on the actual load of the application. When the load increases or decreases, you can flexibly scale the CaaS instances. CaaS integrates with ELB to support traffic distribution among multiple containers. You only need to specify container configuration and the ELB to use, and the CaaS manager will automatically add and delete it. In addition, CaaS provides health check services to ensure normal operation of containers.

Resource isolation

CaaS is started in your own ECS instance and does not share computing resources with other clients. Your cluster runs in your VPC, so you can use your own security group. These features provide high levels of isolation and help you develop highly secure and reliable applications with ECS. Adopting distributed service architecture, CaaS ensures automatic failure recovery and rapid migration.

Rapid deployment

CaaS runs in your VPC, and the high-quality BGP network ensures super-fast i uploading and downloading, easily supports quick start of multiple containers, reduces running costs markedly, and thus making your deployment focus more on business operation.

Free

CaaS is provided for free, and you can build your cluster manager for free in the container. You only need to pay for the cloud service resources (e.g. ECS, EBS, log services, ELB) you created to support CaaS operation. Resources except ECS are optional.

Cluster

The secure and reliable CaaS enables you to manage your container cluster easily and efficiently and get connected to other Ping An Cloud services seamlessly, including computing, storage, network and monitoring. Exclusive control of the container cluster makes your cluster secure and reliable.

Support dynamic scaling of clusters, with the node supporting specification upgrading or downgrading

Manage deployment of intra-cluster nodes across available areas to ensure reliable clusters

Various monitoring indicators for intra-cluster nodes, supporting custom cluster alarm policies.

Service

Service management provides you with efficient container management solutions and supports quick creation of services, quick scaling, ELB, service discovery, service monitoring, health checks etc. You can manage your containers quickly and easily through service management.

Rapid Deployment

Rapid deployment of services and service migration/expansion based on Docker images;

Support service discovery, add port access services through ELB domain name or service name, to avoid the impact of IP changes when the service backend changes;

Support micro-services, reduce code maintenance costs and meet rapid-changing business requirements.

Dynamic scaling

Flexible service scaling as a response to rapid business changes

Deployment of service containers within seconds; rolling upgrade updates service without interrupting business.

Secure operation

Automatic recovery from container exceptions, deployment of service containers across availability areas, with rapid migration available.

Stateful service data supports various forms of persistent storage to ensure user data security.

Image

The image repository contains official Docker Hub images and private images of users, and the image management enables you to create images and deploy services quickly.

Official Docker Hub images

Periodically synchronization of official Docker Hub images;

Accelerated pulling of official Docker Hub images

Private images

Provide a secure and reliable private image repository;

Pushing and pulling images quickly on the intranet;

Obtain images in all regions on the internet

Terms and Descriptions

Available area

Different available areas correspond to different data centers, such as East China Available Area A and South China Available Area A.

High availability domain

Under the same data center, different high availability domains mean different basic devices, such as different hosts, different network devices and different power supply devices.
